Feb'11 - Price increase for Zebra Genuine Barcode Ribbons
13/02/2011
Zebra will be increasing their Genuine Barcode Ribbon prices by 6% from 1st March
The ribbon market has seen major cost increases due to massive increases in the prices of polyester film, which is a major component of all barcode ribbons. These increases have been forced through to all ribbon manufacturers by manufacturers of extruded polyester films, due to full capacity, and alternative growth applications with higher margins (such as optical displays and food packaging).
No ribbon manufacturer is able to absorb all of these significant cost increases, and all of them are passing at least part of the increase to their customers. Zebra are not exempt from these increases, and have seen their cost base rise in recent weeks. They are simply unable to absorb all the increases.
Applicable from 1st March 2011, Zebra will be increasing their published ZipShip barcode ribbon pricing by 6% (six per cent). The new pricing will apply for all new orders received from this date, and for all orders with planned future dates.
Please be assured that the whole ribbon market is now in a situation of increasing costs, and it is our belief that there may be further increases throughout the year, as there is a very new dynamic within this industry.
With regards to the label market, Zebra have seen some small raw material price increases in Q1. At this stage, they will NOT be increasing ZipShip label prices, but will review the position again in Q2. |
