Zebra will increase ZipShip ribbon prices by 7% as of 1st May 2011
The thermal transfer ribbon (TTR) market is currently undergoing its second round of price increases. TTR ribbon manufacturers continue to see significant increases in the price of polyester (PET) films, as well as cost increases between 10% and 30% in many of the other chemical components they use to make ribbons. No ribbon manufacturer is able to absorb all of these significant cost increases, and all of them are passing at least part of the increase to their customers.
Zebra will inevitably have to increase its own prices for barcode ribbons, and we can now confirm that applicable from 1st May 2011, Zebra are increasing their published ZipShip barcode ribbon pricing by 7%.The new pricing will apply for all new orders received from this date, and for all orders with planned future dates.
With regards to the label market, further material price increases have been seensince the start of the year, driven by continuing inflation in many raw material markets. These cost increases are greater for some materials than others, which allows us some flexibility in Zebra's pricing decisions, in order to maintain their competitiveness and play to their strengths.
Zebra have decided NOT to increase ZipShip label prices. Zebra continue to see strong growth of this product sector, and wish to continue this good momentum. |
